We had a drain overflow (nasty drain), which leaked wastewater all over our driveway. It happened twice, both times it was unblocked. I disinfected everywhere TWICE, driveway, house, carpets etc, even the cars (the leak went unnoticed for a number of days).
Both times, we had no problems inside, but our neighbours did, they experienced a backup. Anyway, it's been cleared now, no signs of overflow again, but our neighbours have been away anyway so they wouldn't know! With the heavy rain (not flooding in my area), I'm scared it has filled up again and leaked over the driveway. I don't want to be scared every time it rains that sewage is flowing onto our drive without us knowing! Again, there is no evidence of this, I'm just paranoid (rightly so! I'm a very hygienic person!). Would you clean the drive again and disinfect the house (shoes may have walked in the area and then into the house)?
I just don't know what to do!!
I'm in the UK and yes, rain has nowhere else to go except the sewage system and/or nearby rivers etc.

the rain gets into the system through the manhole cover and through the drains round the back of the house.
