I had real hard wood flooring installed in my hall area in my flat today. I bought the materials from one of the big DIY chain stores and used their fitter. The fitter's quote was almost half the average quote. After the job was finished I found that the flooring was not done in line with the front door. The door was installed diagonally, but the flooring and door bar ran in a straight line. so you could see part of the flooring from outside, in a sharp triangle shape, which looked funny and embarassing.
When I got in touch with the fitter he first refused to fix it saying tat wood is different from carpet and cannot be cut diagonally & to fix it everything has to be lifted again. What rubbish so I hung up the telephone, ready to complain to the shop. 1 hour later he offered to come the following week and fix but still says the whole thing has to be lifted up. Should I trust this fitter or would I be better off asking someone else to fix it?
