We had a wooden floor put down a few years ago over the original wood floor but we have found it to be very cold especially in the current cold spell . In desperation I was reluctantly considering putting carpet down to make it warmer .I believe the fitter didn't lay any material under the wood which may be the reason it is so cold . It would cost too much to take the boards up again to put a liner under and would probably destroy some of the planks which were nailed in place .I am now wondering if it would be possible to seal and varnish it and if that would solve the problem of the cold .Any ideas ?
