We had a flash flood and water got in through front door onto carpet and also into our dining room and kitchen which has felt backed vinyl. The loss adjuster has written off the carpet but seems to think we can get the vinyl dried. We were intending on taking up the vinyl which we have already cut into/got paint on, and he said "you were obviously going to replace this". Well we were but is that the point? Both vinyl floors are water logged and smell and are definitely going, but should the insurance company pay out for flooring which was already knackered and they know we were going to replace?
