Hello, I have a 19 month old un-neutered Male Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. I have a HUGE problem where when ever he sneaks up the stairs (I have a stair gate at the bottom because of my toddler) The first thing he does is run into my son or daughters room and pees somewhere!! Then he runs back down stairs. Why does he do this? I understand dogs like to scent places, but he doesn't do it down stairs at all. It's like he hears the stair gate door creak and he's off!!! I am sick of cleaning dog pee up from upstairs and typically it's the only place we have carpet too! grrrrrr........Not only that it s dirty , unhygienic and it stinks!! Is there anything i can do at all to stop him doing this. It isn't a every now and then thing. It is EVERY time he manages to get up the stairs. Also I am moving in 6weeks to a brand new house, new carpets etc... I can't accept this behaviour anymore.
Thanks for any answers :)
He goes for wee's etc outside. This is pureley a scenting thing. Not a toilet training thing. I was thinking about neutering to be honest
I use carpet shampoo & cleaner to clean it then carpets freshner after. He never does it in the same place twice.
