Ive owned a conure parrot since about the year 2000.. and up until about the beginning of 2011 hes been getting very mucky... we have to now change his sand almost everyday or every 2 days because of fungi and mold growing and he is smelling our house out it smells that bad.. ive disinfected the bottom of the cage and it smells again.. its a female and is about 11 years old but i just dont know what to do with her.. after about 3 days the bottom of the cage is just full of bird poop.. so is my carpet and walls... at first i was shocked to find maggots... we used to clean the cage out about every 5-6 days but all of a sudden when we went to clean her out once there was maggots, fungi, mold... whats going on??? do you think she needs a new cage i just dont know what to do!!!! she never used to be like this
