I've decided to put laminate flooring in. On lifting up the carpet, I noticed that in a corner of the room against an outside wall (with French doors) the floorboards are soggy and mouldy. There had been a layer of vinyl underneath the carpet underlay, underneath the carpet, which had kept the moisture hidden. I'm currently drying out the floorboards (an area of about 1m squared). It's not looking that bad now, however the worst affected small bit in the corner feels spongy.
What should I do to prepare this before I lay the laminate over it? I am going to have to put floor levelling compound over this bit, as it is a few cm lower than the rest of the floor (the last floorboard at the wall).
Thanks
