What standards do houses have to be at when renting?

Carpet Floors - the soft and comfortable side of living.

Hi I moved into a house last month and have since had mould on some of the walls, damp in the bathroom and many of the walls downstairs are damp. After investigating I have discovered that under the carpets there isnt any under lay just the old wooden floor boards which is making the house very cold even when the heating is on. Last week with the bad rain we now also have a leek up on the landing coming through the light this has dried out but its causing the ceiling to flake away. In all honesty I would just like to move out now as its not a nice place to live for us and our little girl when we are constantly waking up cold and picking up slugs that wont seen to go away even after stuff has been put down. Was hoping someone could give me some guidance on how to go about trying to end our contract if possible. The land loard is fully aware of the mentioned and has told me to keep the house ventilated this I feel is somewhat impossible whens its coming in to winter and I have young child. Any advice would be great.
