I've never used one before but I'm going to try it to strip some doors.
The carpet in the room is manky, it'll be in the bin when I've done all the decorating so it doesn't matter if it gets damaged but I'm worried about the heat.
normally when stripping paint using chemical stripper I just put newspaper or plastic down to protect the floor but I'm worried the bits of paint that have been melted off will be hot enough to start a fire.
is this possible?
if yes what should I put down to prevent this?
obviously I will be standing right there so I would see any fire start but I don't want to be constantly stamping out smouldering carpet and I'd be worried about something I missed that smouldered a while after I left the room.
any tips would be welcome especially if you know a good DIY site that gives advice to beginners.
cheers!
thanks - and I've already thought that I'll probably end up burning myself! I'm going to be really slow and careful...
