My upstairs neighbour is way too noisy. I can hear every footstep they make, and sometimes a child visits them which makes it worse. I don't believe they have carpets.
A few times there has been loud music, not often mind, but it happened before between 2am and 5am on a Monday morning and last night between 2am and 5am on a Sunday morning.
What actually woke me up first of all last night was the sound of their excessively loud car engine (boy racer type) driving up at just before 2am. Then I heard about 6 - 10 of them in the street whooping and yelling, then I heard them laughing, yelling, whooping in the stairway as they went upstairs. I opened my front door and said to be quiet as they woke me up. They said "we're having a 21st birthday" and I said again that they were too loud. My neighbour then called me a "fat ****".
I do not want confrontation, and their reaction upset me. I own my home (they rent) and do not want to put anything in jeopardy. The last time music was excessive and in the small hours I called the police who eventually came out to stop it. I didn't call last night as the neighbours would know it was me.
I cant live my life not knowing when I will be able to sleep or not. I can hear them clearly even when they aren't partying, and are just shouting, yelling, walking in high heels on the non carpeted floor, having sex etc etc. It is not every day as I presume often they are at the girlfriend's house, but I cannot predict when they will be home and meaning that I have to have my radio on loud so I can even fall asleep.
What can I do?? Talking to them clearly didn't help. I am not sure when it'll happen so can I even call the local council??
