What is the best method to clean sick out of a carpet?

Carpet Floors - the soft and comfortable side of living.

Well.....where to start...

The other night I went on a student night out with a bunch of friends and drank way to much! The last part of the night was a total blur. Anyway, I woke up the morning after and felt incredibly hungover, so I chose to stay in bed for pretty much the rest of the day. The day after, I was walking across my room and noticed a wet patch on the floor. Turns out I must have puked before bed, nothing serious, but the smell wasn't to appealing.

At first, I tried washing the area with water and some washing up liquid (i know, stupid idea). I dried it up and then tried cleaning the area with some 1001 Mousse, then hoovered it back up. That didn't do the job, so then I tried a Neutradol vac 'n clean deodorising powder, which kind of covered it up a little, but the room still smells musty and vomit like. I've got an extra bottle of Glade Shake 'n Vac to give a shot, but I don't want to waste it if there's a better alternative to tackling this problem.

Has anyone got any cleaning tips or advice? The smell is knocking me sick all over again and I'm trying my best to keep people out of my room for the meantime, which is becoming tiresome now.
