It was exactly 5:45 in the morning my eyes clicked open from the deafening sirens coming from the rusted clock that stood on one leg. I reached over to take the batteries out of that stupid clock. I had been saving up for a new one since I was seven years old. The only income I would get was 50p every Christmas from my neighbour to deliver her cards. My bags were ready to go. I didn't have a lot as I knew I wouldn't be able to carry any more. I hovered through the house secretly. The only noise I made was the rubbing of my cotton socks on the red and purple flowered carpet. I placed the note I had written for my parents on top of the grubby 80's microwave, with the other letters my mother had actually bothered to open. As I highlighted my name in pink fluorescent pen, I had butterflies in my heart which made me question myself, ?Am I doing the right thing?? My heart was telling me to stay but my head was telling me to go. But I continued to go as I had already started. I knew that once I had stepped out of that door there was no turning back now. I forced the battered fridge door open as I was feeling peckish so I grabbed: a bag of grapes, 2 breadcrumb chicken breasts and 350g of mild cheddar cheese which I thought was enough for the two of us until I find a place to eat. As I slammed the dented door shut; I heard the floor creaking from upstairs which made me jump out of my skin so I quickly sprang out of the kitchen door and landed in a massive muddy puddle from where the gutter had leaked due to the heavy rain that poured down last night. I took one last look at my habitat then threw the keys onto the cracked concrete slab near the door.
