Ways to limit idiosyncratic fainting/seizures?

Carpet Floors - the soft and comfortable side of living.

I've had an EEG and MRI with not particular results, had my heart listened to, and keep my ears good and clean, so just going to the doctor again isn't going to help - I'm pretty sure the NHS is done with me. What I'd like to hear are ideas on how to limit the effects of these "attacks". There must be others out there who suffer from a similar problem, so it would be great to hear your advice.

First, I feel slightly nauseous with the stiff neck and slight headache. Between 5 and 15 minutes later the nausea has very greatly increased, my breathing is deep and erratic, I'm dizzy (can't stand), I see lights and lose peripheral vision. I hear a whining, buzzing noise which adds to the headache. All of these things then build together very rapidly. A friend has told me that by this point my forehead is burning hot, and I'm sweating a great deal. Then I pass out. I experience vivid images and sounds for a variable period, then wake up feeling completely exhausted. At this point all I can do is do my best to find somewhere safe and sleep for several hours. I have woken up bruised/carpet burned before, but I think this was probably due to falling down rather than thrashing around.

The only way I've ever managed to avoid the passing out phase was by being put in the recovery position on a cold concrete floor. However, does anyone know of any ways to ward off the attack in the very early stages? Is there something simple I can do or take? I'm really fed up with this affecting my life, particularly as it seems to occur around important events.
I meant to mention that I don't suffer from any anxiety/panic attacks, I'm good at handling things.
