Tooth knocked loose - 20 month old - help?
I took much stick from my partner and her family about baby proofing too much, and listened to all the talk about - babies always get bumps, and bruises, and you cant stop them banging their head. Our compromise was, I can baby proof the living room with foam tiles, and rubber edging, but not the hall. Well my answer was, yes I know babies bang themselves, but you can cut down on the likelihood, by proofing the place where she plays most. My answer was always - I just don't want her to lose an eye or a tooth in that hall, as then all the people who say, 'All babies take knocks' are wrong, I could have cut down the odds of that particular accident happening.
Incident
Last night she slipped, on a bit of juice, in the hard floored hall, and her tooth went through her lip and looked like it was hanging off. Blood everywhere, apparently. It was pushed back into place, and we went to the emergency walk in centre. There we got told to see a dentist if we were concerned. Now we are seeing a dentist tomorrow, but I am unsure if I really want our baby's mouth x-rayed at age 20 months. I know 1st teeth do serve a purpose, spacing and speech, but I also don't want to expose her to radiation if it will harden up on its own and stay in.
Questions
Has anyone had any experience in this? Do we give her a dummy / pacifier? We are giving her baby foods again and hoping. Do you think I should get carpets and are hard floors always dangerous?
Thx in advance Brian
