It just blows me away that people dont take the responsibility seriously.
My question is, why do people not pick up their dogs mess?
I have a Border Collie, very well trained and very clever, and part of his large personality is that he enjoys pooping on his walks rather than at home. Fine by me but either way, Im cleaning it up!
I admit its embarrassing to be stood with a bag wrapped round my hand while he happily poops wherever and whenever he fancies it, and bending over to scoop it and its slightly undignified to be walking around with a bag of poop until I can find a bin, but I think I'd be ashamed by just walking away or pretending I didnt see him do it...
Especially when you read stories about small children who may be blinded because some idiot not only let their dog on a playground, but didnt clear the mess too. Who are these people?!?!
So my question isnt just why they dont clean it up, or what to do to those who dont... But I think the moral of the story is dont snigger at me when you see me cleaning up the poop, beep your horn as you drive past, or think you're "above it", you'd rather I did it than stepping in it and taking it home on your lovely carpet.. If you see someone cleaning up and you appreciate it give them a wave and a smile!
My solution would be an on the spot fine, and an additional fine if you cannot prove that you have at least 4 bags ready on your person which would display your intention to clean it up. But that would mean who would enforce it? I dont want to get into the whole politics of it, simply can't be bothered and people can get quite "deep" on here.. ha ha!
Lets hear from the responsible dog owners! We're not all irresponsible
Let me know what you think!
Thanks Rayven, but why go through the trouble to actually pick up the smelly mess and then just dump it? Sort of defeats the object of the task which is to get rid? I suppose it may be tempting to dump it somewhere instead of carrying it but I always find a bin somewhere. Thoughts anyone?
More Bored Collie, I didnt mean any offence to people like you, I just thought when I made that rule that lots of people when caught could just say "I didnt have a bag or I just used one". Surely carrying 4 small poop bags in your pocket wouldnt be a big sacrifice just in case? xx

mor e bored collie: I totally agree and think that whoever "caught" you would too.. but tiny rolls of doggy bags cost about £1 and attach to the dogs lead? They contain about 80 small individual bags? If it became a law to use one would you follow it? We have the same views, surely if just carrying the bags (just in case in your case) the people who dont intend to clean up can be caught and deterred from doing it again? x
