Telfast 180mg and Allergies/Ashma Question?

Carpet Floors - the soft and comfortable side of living.

Hi all,

I've been on these tablets the most of my life im 17 and been on them since around 13 I was just wondering with these Telfast 180mg tablets do they help againts dust mite allergies, pet allergies such as dogs and cats? because i have a blocked up nose 24/7 due to Dust mites and allergies with my dog and cat and always sneezing so i have been relying on these tablets now for a while.

Since i was on the Telfast 120mg i upgraded a few months ago to the 180mg but i've noticed these tablets don't really help me with my allergies. I told the doctor about it and ask about the allergy shots and she said that they don't give them anymore.

So thats pretty much it. My other question is does Air conditioning help allergies and ashma? I've been fighting ashma all my life and ive noticed it's not as bad as it used to be it's just my allergies mainly but i recently got one installed in my office and i use the Dehumidifer mode a lot.

I have a carpet in my office (i know bad idea) but i have wood flooring in my bedroom the doctor told me to get rid of the carpet but my mother won't allow it due to it's brand new and only just been fitted. But the air con is on 24/7 in my office will it help my allergys and ashma or not? the air con is brand new and only a week old it's a wall mounted one.

And finally a question when im 18 I've been invited to go to an ashma clinic where i live to have a new shot please can you read below and tell me if i should go and have it done?

Email by the ashma clinic:

What is it about?

When people with asthma get a cold it often increases their asthma symptoms. We wish to look at a new medication to see if it can prevent the virus from spreading to the chest and therefore reduce asthma symptoms. The study medication contains interferon?beta which has been given by injection to patients for other diseases. In this study it will be given by inhalation.

What does it involve?

If you are interested we will provide you with written information and invite you to come to Nottingham City hospital and discuss the study in more detail. If you decide to take part you will attend for a screening appointment at a time convenient for you. This will take between 2-4 hours. We will then ask you to monitor your asthma symptoms and measure your peak flow at home. If you get a cold you will need to attend the clinic within 24 hours of having symptoms to receive the first dose of study medication and then for a further 4 visits in 14 days. There will also be another visit when you finished the medication and a final follow up visit 28 days after the end of treatment. In total you are required to attend the clinic for 8 visits. A number of breathing tests and blood tests will be performed during these visits. You will continue to take the inhaled study medication at home in addition to your normal asthma medication for 14 days. If you are unable to attend the clinic within 24 hours, we will postpone giving you the medication and wait until you get another cold.

Thanks all
