had a very bad leak on a radiator pipe in the bedroom and my underlay and carpet got soaked. The firm who put the pipes and radiators in came back and soldered the pipe that was leaking and took my underlay & carpet up. My underlay was thrown away but the workers just folded the wet carpet up and stored it in my cupboard. Since then I have had the underlay replaced and the carpet was cleaned by a carpet firm but the carpet is smelling (it never smelt before the leak) Do you think the carpet smell has been caused by leaving the damp carpet in the cupboard for 7 days.
