My partner and I went to a friends house warming party last night. I knew she would be drinking and made sure that we set a time frame to leave by, as I have a big meeting at work today. We are both 28 and have been together for over a year. We agreed that we would leave by 8:30pm. Sounded great. Well things did not go as planned. She got trashed and I was not able to get her to leave until 10:00pm. On the way home she announced she had to puke. I could not pull over as I was making a left hand turn at a light so I multitasked and grabbed a bag from my lunch that was in the back seat. Well she didn't make it into the bag, instead all over my dash board, herself, the seat, and the carpet. Once we got home she was crying and in and out of the shower and in and out of bed. Needless to say I did not get to sleep until one a.m. after I cleaned out the car, fed our dogs, cats, and did the laundry. This morning she said she'll pay to have my car cleaned but only up to $100. At least that is something but this isn't the first time she has drank too much and I have had to stay up late taking care of her. Of course I went past my limit once last year but am not doing that again, no thank you! I sent her a text message today hinting to send me a rose and she wrote back a rude response and reminded me that she lost her bank card. Urgh. I love her dearly so my question is should I ask for more than the car cleaning and what is the best time to have a talk with her to let her know that I am NOT okay with this behavior in the future.
Thanks for all of the answers. This is much cheaper than therapy! And yes a stripper would be better than a rose at this point.
I'm not quite to the point of kicking her to the curb but we are certainly going to have a come to Jesus meeting tonight.
