The room that Tom sat in was dark and dim. The candles in the back where all but illuminating the large square room. The windows had been barred by long planks of wood, stretching from side to side. The silence that echoed through the house, made the rain smashing off the window, seem even louder. Small pieces of torn, burnt paper concealed the floor below. The cream carpet was hardly visible. Tom wore torn blue jeans and a yellow T-shirt with small dibbles of blood climbing upon it. He sieved his hands through his dark, thick hair and took a deep breath. He stood up and approached the white door. He put his hands of the handle and waited, then after a minute or so, let the shining knob go. He placed his ear against the door and listened. There were two voices, one considerably deeper than the other. ?So tell me again where you found him?? said the deeper of the two voices. ?He was just wondering the road near Birbach, we seen him and took him with us? the other replied. ?Look, Molly, you can?t just take anyone back here, what if he was infected, and what if you were followed?? there was a small pause then Molly replied ?did you expect us to leave him John? He would have got torn apart, we survivor?s gotta stick together?. After that the sound of talking was replaced by the sound of footsteps. They were getting closer; Tom stepped back and sat on the closest chair. The sliver door handle turned and in walked Molly. She was thin and wore a blue long sleeved top with long dark trousers. She looked kind and sat down beside Tom. ?Hi, we haven?t properly met, my name is Molly what?s yours?? Tom gave a slight smile and replied ?Hi, I?m Tom, so what is this place?? Tom looked around the slightly large room as though he had just walked in. Molly started to look around too, ?It used to be someone?s home, now it?s, it?s the only safe place we got from them?. Now they were looking eye to eye, ?by them, you mean those crazy people out there?? asked Tom. Molly closed her eyes, she then muttered the words. ?They?re not people anymore? with that sentence, she disbanded from the room.
