I have lived in my flat for 18 months and looked after it really well - there are no stains on the carpet etc etc. When I handed in my notice on the flat, I was given an exit checklist by the letting agents, which said I should clean the carpets and cover any scuffmarks/holes in the wall with a like-coloured paint, but they didn't give me the make and colour of the cream wall paint they used! I have tried my best to get the closest match and I have also painted over scuffmarks on the skirting boards with white paint, exactly as asked. My landlord though now wants me to re-paint the entire flat as the paint I have used on the walls is not the exact shade (but it's very close!) and the new white paint on the skirting boards shows up the original paintwork to have faded and yellowed. Can he do this, or is he trying to get a free flat redecoration?!
Thanks for your responses so far everyone. The lease simply says that I have to cover scuff marks with like-coloured paint, as I did (as best I could!) I'm a bit alarmed by this as they still have my £780 deposit to return yet!!
