I am renting a flat, I moved in 2 months ago and the flat was refurbished, including a bathroom. We had a few problems with it already, however on Thursday I came back home and the whole basement floor ( I am renting a maissonette) was under water - 10 cm. The pipe below the bath burts out. Who pays for the repairs? We did not have a contest insurance btw. The builder suppose to come and take the carpet out but he did not turn up (landlord said that), so we have done that ourselfs yesterday as it started to smell etc.. Now he changed his mind saying we shouldn't have done that as he wanted to dry that.
Abd I have given a builder £200 for the renting humid machine as he had no money on him.
Will I get my monye back? And what's my rights in the situation like that? The builder was saying that was an accident but not sure if he had done a good job on the first place! Pls help
