I have a 3 year old cat (male) and a 22 week old kitten (female) we found our male cat peeing in the pantry so we bought another litter tray and made sure they were cleaned even more frequently than usual. both cats are house cats and get along well but in the past few weeks our 3 year old cat Zuma has been peeing in the hall by the front door, this has happened about 3 or 4 times, he woke my husband up at 4am this morning scratching at the floor after he had done his business and im getting worried now, litter trays are clean and isobel doesn't have any accidents. his stools have been smellier and runnier than usual too but we haven't changed their food. they are on quality food and both have been on the same food since being a kitten. Im not sure what to do to stop him from peeing in our hallway. he never does it on the carpet (touch wood) but its a little strange that he has total access to his litter box but over night he decides to rebel against it. Do you think it could have something to do with isobel joining the family? they seem to get along but its all a learning experience for us, having two cats. we love having them around and we treat them both equally but im wondering if maybe zuma is a bit jealous and is playing up?
