is this long enough to be a proper chapter? how long would it be in a book?

Carpet Floors - the soft and comfortable side of living.

i keep trying to make it longer. this is my first chapter i've been doing, but i don't know whether it's long enough. i know chapters can be any length but i don't want it to be like 2 pages. also can you tell me what you think of it, whats good, bad, needs improving etc.

The pale hazy moon beamed ominously over me. The silence was deafening. I focused on the house carefully this time, and waited for my friends to arrive. There was something suspicious about this night, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it. The clouds enveloped the moon, only leaving a beam shining down onto the main road and beyond. I was in complete darkness.
Three figures approached me slowly, and I grinned. My hands began shaking with nervousness and excitement.
?Ready?? I gave one of them a package I had smartly designed to look like a birthday present.
?Let's go.? Charlie hugged me to disguise any irregular behaviour. We wandered down the path of the house, and instead of suspiciously looking around before we entered, we pretended to knock the door then stroll in. Alex slipped the key out of her huge plastic bag and we tumbled in.
?Ssh.? Charlie put her arm around all of us and dragged us to the kitchen.
The light was flicked on, and my eyes didn't adjust at once so I blinked a couple of times.
?Here's the thing.? Violet began. ?That cupboard,? She pointed to a large wooden door in the corner of the room. ?leads to a maze. It's not as simple as those on a children's worksheet. It's miles long. If we were get to the middle of that maze...?
?We'd get the book then, wouldn't we?? Alex beamed and walked over to the cupboard. She opened it and a bitter gust flew down my neck and stood the hairs on the back of my neck upright.
?Yes, we will. But we'll need lots of supplies. Alex??
Alex shut the door and spilled all her bags contents onto the rotting table in the centre of the room. Tinned fruit, crisps, cooked meat, biscuits, little cakes, and loads of bottled water and energy drinks, it was endless.
?That plus whatever's in the fridge?? She said sarcastically.
?Right. Charlie, did you bring batteries?? Violet turned to her and whipped a torch out of her bag, examining it delicately.
?I did indeed.? Charlie nodded and opened her bag and showed us around 10 packs of unopened batteries.
?Georgia, where are the sleeping bags?? Alex asked.
?In the front room, I'll just be one second.? I stumbled into the front room and breathed deeply. Unlatching the cabinet, I ran over everything that was going to be going on. This was the most scariest moment of my life. Pulling our suitcases from underneath the sofa, I considered leaving. This was my only chance. I could easily say to my mum and dad that I'd changed my mind after wanting to go to Scotland with my friends for two and a half weeks.
Should I go?
Should I?
?Georgia! Where are you?? Charlie was wandering around and I fell to the floor hopelessly, sending dust soaring into the air from the thick carpet. I couldn't go.
I didn't know what I wanted to do, go home or stay here.
?Here, Charlotte. er. Charlie.? I grinned as we dragged each four cases to the kitchen, where the other two were talking about contacting our parents.
?We'll ring every two days. I'm not sure what the weather will be like there, so just say it's breezy every day, not cold, not hot. Warm. Humid. Whatever. Just don't blow our cover. Remember, our parents talk to each other.?
?Are we ready?? I asked, opening the cupboard again. A strange smell blasted me in the face. It was awful. The similar bitter draft gave me goosebumps immediately.
?I think we are. Just the last things... first aid kit... rope...oh, have you locked the front door?? Violet glanced around then nodded at everything.
?I'm not stupid.? Alex raised her nose in the air and unwound the rope. ?Let's go.?
I climbed in first, and to my huge shock, the inside of the cupboard was colossal. It smelled musty and cobwebs blanketed the ceilings. My feet hit the cobbled floor as I swung down. The stairs were completely destroyed so everything had to be lowered down, including ourselves.
?Yuck.? Charlie came second, then we helped lower the cases down. Violet came last, then we all tied the rope firmly to the inside door handle so we could find our way back.
?Woo! And we're off...? I groped around for my torch and accidentally turned it on in Charlie's face.
?Oh, can you see enough now Georgia?? she rubbed her eyes furiously and Violet laughed.
?We need to focus,? Violet suddenly interrupted her laughter with a stern face. ?There's no messing about here now.?
It was stuffy in there, and we kept running into dead ends then having to go back. At the entrance of every dead end we would make a cross out of our litter from the food we ate so that way we wouldn't go back in.
But in fact, we were totally oblivious to what was going on in the outside world...
