Our four year old son Preston had painted the dining room using his finger paints, painted his younger brother, and rubbed paint into the carpet. We were painting with the kids in the dining room. I had gone upstairs to check on the baby whilst my husband had gone into the kitchen to make a start on dinner.
My husband tapped boy his hands and told him off, made him help us clean up his brother. We have also taken away his finger paints, colouring pencils, felt tip pens. He's not allowed desert after dinner for a week and he can't visit or go to any friend's homes for 2 weeks.
I think we've been a little harsh on him, I'm not sure.
He knows full well not to paint on other things other than paper. We aren't letting him have desert after dinner - he can't have ice cream after dinner. That isn't depriving him of food.
