I live in an absolute dive not by choice but because of economics just like most people. We introduced ourselves to the neighbours where as they chose to ignore us. Our car got smashed up and of course none of the residents heard or seen anything when asked. We got offered a holiday, 4 days 30 miles away and we took it. First time away in 3 years for us both. But before we left i secured the house, yeah were insured but i didn't secure the house against professionals, if they wanted in they'd get in. I secured it against a break in from local scum. Screwed the window latches down, back yard made it very awkward to get into and out of, i left heavy washing out on the line jammed the wheelie bin against the yard door and threw thick bleach all over the back yard. If they want in they'll have to smash glass plus the bleach was there if they set foot onto the carpet as their foot prints would be burnt in.
So we came back yesterday and the house hadn't been touched, i had to breathe a sigh of relief because honestly i expected the worst a "calling card" on the living room floor. Is society so rotten and putrid i have to expect the worst from people?

Just: i'm not in the UK, i dig what your saying but if they wanted to break in they would have broken in that alone i might be able to hack. Steal all our wordly goods some of which are priceless yeah i can dig it. But as a victim of crime i know how low they can stoop, they smashed our car up because they couldn't steal it. But i was really just worried about coming home to a ransacked house and finding human excrement on the oven in the fridge or on the floor.
