The window was open. Banging, the pain of glass beat hard onto the window frame while droplets of water flew gently in through the blinds and lay lifeless on the floor. I observed the action from the comfort of my bed and allowed a moment to process what I had seen. One water droplet had come from thousands of feet up in the air, dancing in the wind, all but to land on my floor, with no choice but to dissolve into the threads of my carpet and slowly fade away like the sun on the horizon on a brisk day.
I take a sip of my tea, and examine its taste and temperature with my senses. Steam lifted from the cup and elegantly floated past my eyes, distorting my view, while the intense heat scolded the roof of my mouth and my eyes watered. In an attempt to cure my boredum, I switched on the tv and the music blastered in my ears as images of people laughing , and enjoying themselves came into my view.
It was then I realised I wasn?t happy. The permanent solemn look etched upon my face has gotten me down as of late. Like a snake shedding it?s skin, I feel that I have shaved off every layer of my being until I?m bare, like a Barbie doll hoping to be recognised, looked after and to be adored by someone.
