Built an extension to our house in January (brick walls, concrete floors). It was completed in 5 weeks, and then put down carpet and tiles and painted it so it could be used immediately. The extension was built to legal standards of insulation and seems well built, but within a few days after painting, mould started forming on the walls. This has got quite bad now, mostly in corners of floor, or around windows, and some around skirting.
The house is in Ireland by the way, so I know it can be a damp country, but is this normal? Is it caused by bad construction or did I not give the walls and floor enough time to dry out properly before painting? Should it clear up over time?
