I want a pug. HELP NEEDED!?

Carpet Floors - the soft and comfortable side of living.

Hi there,

I am wanting to buy a pug as a suprise for my boyfriends 30th as we both adore them and have talked about gettig one for so long but we have always said we will get one when we settle into a house rather than a flat. We have lived in a house for almost 2 years now and have just had the whole house refurbished new walls cream carpets wooden floors etc and had a loft conversion. And now I want to buy him the pug for his 30th. We live within the M25 on a street just off the main road which is very busy etc

I just wanted some advice as I know they are friendly, caring animlas and have done my research but want to know about peoples first hand expereices with them

Firstly, is a better to get a boy or a girl? I was thinking about a boy as with females you the problem of them being on heat =, but then was thinking the male pug might tend to be slightly more boistrous. From experience anyone have any suggestions?

Secodly, are they expsneive as alot of the things i have read on the net claim they are not very expensive (unless they are unhealthy and come from poor breeders)

What is the ebst age to buy them at?

Are they hard to house train?

Hwo long can you leave them alonw for as we live next to his parents so there will always be someone chekcing in on him as his mum is an accoutant who works from home. And I can work from home 2 days a week

Is it good to get them a kennel?

Has anyone ever had problems when they are brought from the Kennel club breeders? as this si the only site I trust to look for breeders

What do I look for when visiting the pugs parents?

What food do they eat? I read somewhere that a vegetarian diets is best for them ( something to with low fat content) can someone please advise

Can they travel in the car with you (not to the supermarket) but if you are going to visit friends etc and want to take them with you rather than leave them alone

Lastly not sure if this is cruelty or if anyone is going to object to ths but I wanted the pug dleiverd to our house so that my boyfirend can open the door and receive it..kind of like a nice suprise

I was going to bring the pug from the owner and then leave it at my friends house (who lives a few streets away) and then get the pug couriered tio my house (the longest it will be in a kennel/box thing would be 10 minutes as my firend littleraly lives 5 minutes away. Or if anyone can advise of a better idea of this is not a good idea please feel to suggest otehr ideas

I really appriciate the help

Many thanks
