Hey, my hamster had died about a year ago, and i want to get another pet, but the problem is, my mum wont let me.
I had my hamster for 3 years, and he was really nice, but he chewed up the carpet, and we hated cleaning out the cage. I am 15 years old, and i was looking at this pet shop, and i saw a Degu, and i had no idea what it was, but ive researched it alot, and found out lots about them, and there needs. And i would really love to get one, because they look fun and friendly. The only problem i have, is that my mum refuses to get me one, because she claims i will get bored of them, and shel end up cleaning the cage. It was really hard getting her to let me have a Hamster, but if i ever bring up the idea of getting a pet, shel say "NO apsoluply not! youl loose interest, and il have to clean it, and i hate it! so, i have no idea what to do??
I really want to get a Degu, cause they seem great pets, and i know lots about care and there life, but convincing my mum will be hard. And i dobt il get bored, because there alot more fun, and active than a hamster, and it will have another Degu to have company, and its awake in the morning when i am, rather than getting up at night. But how do i convince my mum! Shel bring up, you got bored of your hamster in 3 years, and these like 5-8 years!
So.. Please help me!
What can i do, or say to my mum, to make her change her mind, and its not like, i promice il clean it, or i wont get bored, shel still be like "you will! shes hard to convince, so what can i please do to help let me have one??

Remember, the problem is, that my mums strict with this. Ive tried doing some chores, doing well at school, but she will still refuse, just saying all the usual annoying crap, i got the hamster at 11, im 15 now, and i want to prove to her that i can be mature, and i will clean the cage, but she just says, youve already proven to me that you cant, and il say give me a chance, but shel still say, youve had it =[
Shes so annoying sometimes... she lets me have a hamster at 11, but when im 15 she refuses and says no..
Im not asking how to look after the Degu! im asking how can i try convince my mum to let me have a rodent again, your all answering how to look after one, which i dont need!
