I'm thinking of whether to replace my old carpet with some wood laminate flooring. ?

Carpet Floors - the soft and comfortable side of living.

Does anyone here have it? What does it look like? Was it hard to lay and what should I prepare myself for? Was it a hassle to lay over old floorboarding? Would I have to invest in some professional tooling to lay it effectively? What colour/style of wood would go with a (sort of) light beechy coloured wardrobes (its not real beech, its just that general light yellowy colour, the material is something fake that begins with an M...) a black settee and patterned black bed cover. And could I get some general tips aswell? Other than that can I get a recommended place to buy from where I can get cheap stuff that looks good and wont be under heavy scrutiny, and also doesnt look like cheapo plastic. My room is 16m2, and I've found some that would cost £85 to buy that I like the the look of. I really can't be spending a fortune as my parents aren't contributing, and they are the type that go for the expensive authentic stuff (which they also won't buy)

All answers read and considered, thanks.
