My own small dogs are well groomed, and the house rarely smells of dog (I air it out daily, carpets cleaned every 3 months, vacuum daily, wash their bedding weekly...) - Even my friends who dont have pets have commented on how you cant smell my dogs when you come into the house.
However my sister stayed for a weeks after leaving her boyfriend and a very bad relationship and bought her huge husky mix with her - hes 5 years old and until she came here he'd never had a bath, and the dog smelt AWFUL! The dogs now been properly bathed and groomed and shes moved into her own place, and her life back under control, but my house now stinks of this dog!
Ive aired the place out, Ive had the carpets deep cleaned, washed all the bedding and the throws over the sofa, Ive even tried that shake and vac stuff to try and get rid of it, and nothing seems to get rid of that smell - Its reduced a bit for a few days then it comes back.
How on earth do I get rid of this smell?

And before anyone worrys, I will personally make sure she takes better care of Charlee the dog than she has been! He will never be allowed to get into that state again and as she now lives just down the road rather than 80 miles away I can keep an eye on him.
