We are getting a new cat - or rather tom-cat. He is a stray and we can't find his owner. At the moment he stays with my sister in law but she because she already got 2 cats we offered her to take him. I am not sure how to start - we want to let him out and take him in over night. To we need a cat litter? My mother in law hasn't got a cat litter and her cat stays in over night - only leaves the house during the day. He is actually clean but my sis in law said he weed on her carpet. But I think that's because she doesn't clean the litter properly and she doesn't let him out. So what are the best steps to take? Should I keep him in the house for a month so he gets used to us and get a cat litter for the time being? Or should I let him out straight away?
Any ideas?
