Okay, for my english coursework we have to do a dual narrative and it has to be an attack. I am doing a cheetah attacking a zebra. We also aren't allowed to call them cheetah and zebra so the cheetah is "creature" and the zebra is "animal". I also have to alternate endings so please tell me which is the best. Any improvements would be great! :)
Hidden in the long, high grass no one would have expected anything to be there. It?s streamlined body lay perfectly still against the dusty carpet that was the desert floor. The great ball of energy suspended in the sky shot down it?s rays, boiling the dried land below. All was silent as the hungry creature revealed it?s point claws and lethal teeth. It?s tail meandered just above the ground, it?s ears twitched listening for danger. It?s eyes were focused, un-moving but very much alert.
Munching hastily on the limited grass the relaxed animal lifted it?s head gracefully. Shaking the flies from it?s face it stared at the few wild flowers that were surviving in the burning heat. It noticed that most of the herd had started to return to the watering hole but still it continued to devour the vegetation.
It?s claws emerged from the sturdy paws, gripping onto the cracks in the soil. It?s tongue licked the dried lips surrounding the teeth desperate to dig into it?s prey. The creature studied the awkward position of it?s victim and where it could run. The corners of it?s small mouth turned upwards to reveal it?s fangs and create a piercing smile. The hungry creature edged forwards.
The grazing animal froze suddenly. Only it?s small and fearful eyes moved. There were no other sounds to be heard except the rapid beating of it?s heart. It?s breathing had become uncontrollably short and sharp. It?s hooves scraped the parched floor. The herd were no where to be seen. It was left abandoned, vulnerable and alone.
Heart racing with anticipation, the beast slowly crept with stealth and deadly purpose. The scars embedded across it?s face mad e the creature even more menacing. It was torture to resist the urge the run but instinct told it to crouch and stay focused, there was only one chance. The animal had to be brought down in the first few seconds of pursuit. One blow from the prey?s hind legs and it would be dead it seconds.
ENDING 1
Without hesitation, the terrified animal hurtled itself forwards. Frantically, it rushed passed the bushes kicking it's legs as often as it could. It could feel the hot breath of it's attacker getting closer. Tragically, the beast clamped it's jaws powerfully into the leg of it's prey. The helpless animal squealed in pain as it was dragged violently to the floor. The attacker slammed it's claws into the animal's neck, letting the blood pour out over the ground. The animal lay there, dying slowly.
The bewildered creature stared at it's meal lying dead on the floor. It had appreaed from no where and taken down it's prey. Angry, the creature stood before the beast, snarling deeply. Tight lipped the beast almost smirked as the prey whined quietly. It silenced the wounded animal in matter of seconds. The beast roared triumphantly. The creature turned and left hearing the sound of it's meal being destroyed. Frustrated, it snarled one last time. It knew it could never defeat the king of the jungle.
ENDING 2
Like a bullet the animal shot off running as fast as it could. It didn't dare breathe as it felt a furry paw skim it's leg. It kicked frantically and sped forward. Run. Just run.
The creature tried leapt at the prey, narrowly missing a kick from the hind legs. An sudden force from it's legs propelled the creature forward at top speed. Soon it was level with the animal's neck. With one jump, it bit indeep bringing the victim down with ease. It squealed loudly and the creature dug it's claws into the flesh of it' meal and ripped apart it's body until it was silenced.
(For ENDING 1, the "Beast" is a lion. That is why the zebra started running, it saw the lion not the cheetah. The lion takes the zebra down, and the cheetah threatens the lion but gives up because it know the lion cannot be defeated.)
