We're starting to get frustrated. One of the cats urinated on the carpet in a room that will, in about a month, be our nursery. We cleaned it with a natural, pet-rated urine cleaner, but there was still a little bit of a smell. We decided to rent a Rug Doctor for good measure, and shampooed the carpet. It doesn't smell like cat urine anymore, but there is a very strong, penetrating chemical smell from the use of the carpet shampooer, which has not diminished much though it has been a week since we treated. Is it a matter of airing it out? Did it not get rinsed thoroughly enough? Is there something else we can do about this smell?
Hey thanks guys. Baking soda, I should have known...it's the solution to all bad smell problems.
