Just over a month ago, my two schnauzers (one standard pepper and salt, one giant black) went to the groomer's, who told us she found fleas on one of the dogs (giant black). We put frontline spot on on both dogs the next day.
That next week, 5 of us went on holiday, one stayed in London and comeback to visit the house at weekends. She called us while we were away to say that the house was infested with fleas, and she was covered in bites. She bought loads of flea products, sprinkled them in the carpets, and furniture, and sprayed the furniture and vacuumed all the carpets and changed all the bed linen.
We came back, and found fleas on us from the house, but the dogs were in kennels. We bought a new spray from the vets (RIP Flea) and sprayed every room around the corners and in a cross pattern over the floor, vacuumed every room, sprayed all the furniture, changed the bed linen again, EVERYTHING! There were definitely less fleas, and I certainly hadn't seen any in days.
We collected the dogs from kennels and kept them confined to one room, the kitchen, as we found some fleas on them. We took them to the groomer's again for a bath and tidy, who told us she found DEAD fleas on the dogs. Nevertheless, the day after they were bathed, we applied frontline spot on, and kept the dogs outside ALL day. We saw them scratching like mad, obviously the fleas weren't happy.
There were now only three people living in the house, the others went back to work from holidays, and so two people went to Lobdon yesterday leaving one at home. He kept the dogs in the kitchen all day. The were frontlined the day before, so we were confident that any fleas on them would be killed and any that went on them would die. When we came back, he told us that he had sat in the living room to watch tv, had been in there less than a minute, and had been bitten 4 times by fleas. We sprayed all around the room and the sofas again, left it as it said on the can, for half an hour or more, and went in
We found more fleas inside, and sprayed the room again with a different spray an left it overnight. This morning, we checked the dogs ad found several live fleas on each.
Should the frontline kill any flea that go on the dogs? If so then it isn't working
