I say this because I know I have been over protective with our LO. She walked 30 steps unaided at 11 months, and now at 15 months, I still wont let her go on anything but grass because her balance isn't that good. She took a fall on concrete at 1 year old which frightened the hell out of me, so I always held on to her after that. My girlfriend says I have slowed her down. On the other hand her little cousin ( 4 months younger) was allowed to sit up at 5 months and left to just fall over and bang her head - on carpets, but she still cried. She even was allowed to sit on a settee and fell off a few times. She was allowed to pull herself up on the washing machine, and fall over banging her head. I never let our baby do any of that, partly because we had hard floors, but mostly because I don't like her taking knocks. I know babies have been taking knocks ever since we were on this planet, but I just wonder, do parents who just let their kids go for it, have babies who develop faster, but also take a higher risk? What I am trying to say, is if babies take knocks, do they walk crawl faster? Certainly her cousin is more physically stronger and doing everything physically earlier .
