Desperately Need Help With 8 Week Old GSD Puppy & Toilet Training!!!?

Carpet Floors - the soft and comfortable side of living.

We just bought a young white German Shepherd who is lovely and cute and we love her, however, she is drving us insane!

It is nearly impossible to toilet train her, I know its only been a few days but she should be better than she is at the moment with it.

I am no stranger to toilet training dogs as we have another older dog and when he was a pup I had no problem training him. We do also have an 19 month old daughter who could be adding to the chaos a tiny bit though!

Now I know that 20 mins after she eats or drinks, when she wakes, after playing, during playing and when she is sniffing around in circles are all good times to take her out the back and wait until she goes. However, my partner and I have both taken it in turns to go out and stand with her, sometimes for almost an hour and she just won't defacate! She will go out and pee which we praise her for but then she comes back in and either at night or just out of nowhere she will poop everywhere! There are constant little puddles of pee everywhere also and she just is NOT getting the paper thing at all.

We have a conservatory in our house and I feed the animals in there and leave the back door open for them to go out, there is paper by the door and she will go out and pee and then come back in and she will pee ont he paper by the door but I hate leaving her in there all day just because she won't train properly...! I actaully just let her back in the house after peeing on the paper, gave her praise and within 2 mins she had peed on the carpet, I put her back out after telling her bad dog and let her in again after a few minutes, she then ran into the bathroom and pooped on the floor!!!

The other problem we have with her is that we have a 5 year old Collie cross who is good as gold and sleeps upstairs with us, we had hoped that it would be ok to let the puppy sleep up with us as well but she just annoys the other dog until he growls at her loudly and then they both end up walking in circles around the bed, him trying to get away from her, and her trying to get attention from him. They both end up waking our 19 month old daughter who then has to come into bed with us and all in all this process means we get VERY little sleep. There is also the matter of her not going to the toilet on the paper in the bedroom as well.

We can get hold of a large dog crate which we could put in the kitchen but I'm afraid that now shes been in the bedroom every night since Saturday 6th June, she will howl the house down and the neighbours will kill us! She has been left a few times in the daytime in our porch and I know she howled a little but then settled down I think, as she was always quiet when we arrived home.

She is so loving already and having owned a Shepherd in the past I know she will become a lovly loyal and obedient pet as long as we stay patient and firm (which we are trying to do!)...

Does anyone have ANY ideas on what we can do to help the process along? I don't want smart alec answers and these will be reported as soon as they are read!
