Recently a plumber who was working in my kitchen, (Mr Halliburton I beleive his name was), made a terrible mess of the pipework - the result is that a burst pipe is now spewing gallons of dirty water all over my kitchen floor and its started seeping into my bathroom and living room! Would you advise that I:
a) Rush out immediately and hunt down the owner of the plumbing company (leaving the water still gushing out and mess all over the floor), haul his posterior into court and start demanding many thousands of pounds in compensation, screeching all the while about "kicking his a.ss" and making a big public scene about it all
b) Quickly get someone in to fix it ( I know someone with something called a "supertank" who can do it in minutes) clean the mess up (before it gets any worse and ruins my carpets and rots the woodwork) thereby avoiding an even bigger and more expensive catastrophy. Once thats done I can think about suing the plumber and sending him the cleanup bill
I would be more inclined towards b) for practically a common sense, but then I also see the advantages of a) - the more damage thats done the more compo I can claim (was hoping for a few grand to buy a new car) and the more fuss I can make, thereby elevating my standing in the eyes of my voters - err friends. It also helps that the plumbing company is owned by a foreign gentleman, so I can be seen to be sticking one to the foreigners too if I choose this option. It will totally "big me up" in the eyes of my peers who are very patriotic, and they will think I am The Shizzle.
Would appreciate your input on this matter, Many thanks.
The plumbing company's name is BP (was once British Plumbers but changes it over 20 years ago). Mr Halliburton works for them.
