Hello there. I was just looking for a bit of information from anyone who has applied for any of these.
Here is my story. Me and my partner have been on the council waiting list for just over a year, and due to a change in circumstances, we were able to move up and band and become more prioritised. This was only 4 weeks ago, and I was completely shocked when this week I was called up and offered a 2 bedroom flat for us, as I am overcrowded with mother and 3 other siblings, and also expecting. The reason I am asking about these two is the fact that we have not had chance to start to save properly for this flat, I know I have been on the list for over a year, but we never come in the top applicants, until the last couple of weeks. We should be receiving the keys tomorrow or the latest Tuesday and we are in dire need of money to help furnish it. With it being a council flat it also has no carpeting/ flooring down either.
I was wondering if we would be able to apply for a community care grant for a double bed, living room carpeting, a oven and seating? We currently do not have anything to take with us, and I have read around that items such as fridge or a washing machine is not essential unless required for medicinal purposes. And how much would we be able to receive, and if so, how long would it take?
If I am not eligible for the CCG, what is the maximum budgeting loan me and my partner could apply for? Thank you :)
