i have a victorian house with thick doors, moulds of grapes etc on ceiling and thick original floor boards unvarnished. i just pulled up a carpet and never got round to replacing it, i then aggreed to look after a cat who was in the room and its clawed and destroyed one of the floor boards. there is actuallly a gap undr the skirting board now. why has it done this
