We just got a new cat three days ago - he's a little under a year old and is perfectly litter trained. However, we started letting him explore our hall today, and he seems to like peeing on the area by the front door, which is carpeted with doormat material. I tried putting a small bowl of food on the area, which he ate with gusto, then peed next to it 10 minutes later! His litter tray is well cleaned and he pees in there when he's in that room, so he has no problem with it...
