I have just moved out of a rented property. When our carpets were cleaned, 2 holes were found in one of the carpets that has been attributed to carpet moth larvae. This was an area under a rug in my daughters room. My landlord has told the agent that it is our fault as we brought them in. The agent is currently withholding our deposit. We moved into the property in January. Its a very old building. Now my understanding is that these blighters hibernate in carpet or in cracks in the wall over winter and then come out to play in Spring/Summer. Anyhow, from what I can gather this is a very unusual issue and I wonder if anyone else has had something similar happen ?
