I've just got a quote for carpeting a 2 bedroom flat I'm moving into, and the carpet chap(Own independent firm been going for years) says as the floors are solid, paying for underlay and grippers would be a waste.
The carpet I've chosen has a felt underlay already on it, but as it's a flat, I'm concerned about the noise of me moving about being heard by the occupants underneath, and surely the carpet will last longer, and feel better underfoot with underlay?
He's quoted me £920 without grippers and underlay(but that does include vinyl flooring for the kitchen and bathroom)
