Since I cant find a a local stockist { N/East ..UK} of `Formaldehyde free chipboard` is it possible to varnish standard chipboard to stop it `off gassing` with a varnish? Any contributions from industrial chemists and a like appreciated. (Intensions were to use product to overlay floor boards, before new carpeting is fitted)
Note: original floorboards are very un-even hence a 12mm chipboard overlay{particleboard} would solve the problem. In Europe & in some parts of USA retailers offer safer products . But in UK as per always safety is never an issue. Seeking answers from university educated in science and chemistry.
