I want to know the answer to this question because my mum went to the doctors today and her BP was 197 it gave dr cause 4 concern and he has given her tablets for her BP, she did see the nurse 2 have her BP checked though, I did see another nurse come in the room with a BP machine and the dr came in not long after. My mum is 56 and she does smoke about 20 fags a day which is quite a lot and she weighs about over 10 stone, the nurse and dr have told her to cut down on her smoking. She is worried about taking the tablets she's worried bout side effects eg Angina and other stuff. Last week her blood pressure was 160 she felt a bit light headed she cleaned carpets and than had a nose bleed which lasted about half an hr or so, today she feels fine. I just want to know what is the highest danger level 4 BP ?? My mum asked me to look up on the net, I have looked but i don't understand what the internet is saying, well I have problems understanding what I read so Id like someone to answer my question and try to explain it so I will understand..

Also she's gotta go for an ECG on Thursday and she has to wear it for 24 hours and she's also got to have a blood test too & she's gotta go back on Monday as well.
