Basically, I live in a 1st floor flat and have been having problems with my downstairs neighbour.
He always complains about the noise of us moving around etc. Living in these flats, you do hear a fair bit of noise ( I have an upstairs neighbour too) but it's nothing ridiculous. Just walking around can be noisy.
Anyway, we have done all we can to accommodate him! We even replaced the full floor and when that wasn't good enough, we bought new (expensive I may add) thicker carpets with thicker underlay.
Things have gotten out of hand though since we got our two kittens. He constantly complains that they constantly run about all night and jump around and just generally make a LOT of noise. This just isn't true!
They were fairly boisterous when we first got them aged 6 weeks (they are 7 months now) but for the 1st couple weeks, they were locked in the living room at night and they quickly settled down. Now they sleep most of the night. We don't allow them in the bedrooms at night (to accommodate him) and now we don't let them in the living room at night either (again, to accommodate him).
They are only allowed in the hall, the kitchen and the bathroom from around 9pm til around 9am. When they run around and play, they can be noisy but they sleep ALL night long! I know this for a fact as I have sleeping problems and am awake almost all night long every night of the week! Every time I check on them or walk by them, they are sound asleep!
So anyway, this guy has now informed me he has been recording noises we have made and has posted the videos on youtube! Is this even legal?
The guy shouldn't even be in the flat! It's a council flat in his ex girlfriend's name and she moved out years ago. Essentially he is living there illegally but now he is claiming his girlfriend has only just left a couple of weeks ago because of the noise. This is just a bare-faced lie that any of my other neighbours will back up!
Can he record our home?
