Hi i really need some help, i signed a tenancy agreement monday. I had previously viewed the house a student let from caxtons and saw no problems. I went to the house after getting the keys and it was in an awful state. The landlord had all his personal belongings there which he is removing on the 29th september, they take up an entire downstairs room. Upon inspection, i found mattresses with huge yellow stains on, carpets so worn they are barely there and it wasnt at all clean. I have spent 3 days so far cleaning. Me and my partner which equate to 2 of the 3 tenants signed the contract as did the estate agents, the guarentor and it was witnessed. The employee at caxtons then verbally informed me that a clause of the contract: water bills would possibly no longer be included. I did not agree to changes being made. When the third tenant arrived and signed the contract 4 days later we found she had photocopied a page with signatures and on the other side (as it was printed double sided) included a page where water rates were no longer included. To add to this stress we examined the property further to find not only bed bugs but their eggs as well as evidence of mould. Two tenants are asthmatic and one is allergic to insect bites. We would like to know if we stand a chance of getting out of it? Please Help us
