We're moving into a new student house and were told we can have pets. I'd like to have a house rabbit. We have a roof terrace which I would let the rabbit wander around on, putting a pen up with hay on the floor as it's concrete. It'd mainly stay in my room, it's a very large room about the size of a large living room. I'd get a litter tray and a hutch to put in my room.
I'd have a hutch at home in my room as well for it to live in when I go home, and at home I have a proper, large garden. It should be easy to transport as I think I will be mainly driving home alone during the second and third years. We can live in the house for two years if we want. The Landlord shampoos the carpet everytime the tennants move out. If I take good care of the rabbit, it shouldn't need the vet so much, right? My housemates said they would help take care of it if I were away as they want one. It would be mine and everyone else's. I'd supervise it at all times, like I do with my lizard though he won't be living in my student house as he wouldn't be easy to transport. This should be all I need to do, right? Am I missing anything? I have honestly thought as hard as I can about the problems and finding a way around it.
We wouldn't be having loud parties or anything like that, not often at least, so the noise level would be relatively low.
I should have minimal hours during the week at Uni, and if my hours don't coincide with my flatmates' schedule then they might be able to supervise the rabbit. There are ways to cover up cables on the floor and my course is Creative Writing, not too much studying to be done as from september on I have no exams. So I can write in my room while my rabbbit roams the room.
I'm not too fussed about the urine. The landlord cleans the carpets. I know we're allowed to have pets, his current tennants have pets. We saw them when we looked round. I would litter train the rabbit, or get a rescue house rabbit.
