I have signed a tenancy agreement with 4 other students for a 3 story house with 6 bedrooms. We were given the keys to our house yesterday. we entered the house to find dirty mattresses, carpets and sofas. The fridge and walls contained mold and damp. there is no gate at the rear of the property which leads on to an open alley. my main concern is a fire door on the 2nd floor, the hinge is broken and the door does not close. We wish to end our tenancy but our landlord is threatening to take us to court to pay 10 months rent, is there any way we can end the tenancy with out paying or going to court?
