I've lived in a first floor, 2 bed, flat for a year. My bedroom is a large room away from the kitchen. When i first moved in the room really smelt of damp, so i threw out the carpet and redecorated. The last few mounths the level of mould is extreme. If i clean the window it will be completely covered in a 2 weeks. The problem doesn't appear to be coming from the walls, but everything in the room is suffering clothes, shoes, furniture, even my electricals and paperwork are covered in mould. The council have been around and said its the windows location of the room. They also blamed the net on the window and clutter. So I keep the window continuously ajar to ventilate wipe excess moisture from window, removed furniture from walls and removed any excess clutter. Yet the mould continues and im losing everything i own, I have vintage cameras and the cases are completely ruined and everything stinks. The council said i can put a claim in but I would not be successful. Does anyone know how i could claim for some of the damage and from who. The insurance company said they dont cover it.
